In march of this year, I once again went into the studio with the band Mensergerjeniet, to record a new EP. We were looking for a bit more fatter rock sound, and have found that at Studio 58 in Eindhoven. The four new songs are almost finished and ready to be distributed. I performed my last show for Center Parcs Kempervennen last night. For more then two years, I worked there as a light- and soundengineer. Since November 2011 I work as a fulltime soundengineer at PopEi, in Eindhoven.
Behind the scenes I also worked for the entertainmentshows at Center Parcs. Among others, I have created several audio and video mixes. I would like to share two examples of them: a mashup of two songs: Lady Gaga – Born this way and Madonna – Express yourself (in audio as well as video), and an audiomix for the children’s disco in the summer of 2011.
On December 2th last year, the band Ape not Mice brought their mix of pop and jazz on the stage at PopEi. An impression of this concert (captured by our own team) has been put online by the band themselves. I created the monitormix and the front of house mix at the concert, and the audiomastering for this video. A review of this concert (in Dutch) can be found on the website 3 voor 12.

By now I have the luxury that I regularly may provide the audio for a concert or festival. But every now and then something appears on my stage that touches me more than usual. A concert that runs smoothly and at witch the music and technique work together to make a greater sum than the individual parts. And if the style of the music is something you don’t see that often in Rockcity Eindhoven, I just have to share it with you.
At Eindhoven, the union of musicians called Paraplu has moved into the building of PopEi, providing rooms for rehearsal, a bistro, a recording studio and a music venue. To celebrate this, a little festival ‘Onder de Paraplu’ has been organized. The kickoff of this was provided by Spanish Blues Band, a especially for this occasion group of passionate musicians brought together by Eric van Donkersgoed. Here is a video impression of that concert, at which I provided the monitor and front of house mix. A big thanks to Eric van Donkersgoed for his permission and the video-edit.
In 2009, I posted an article about Tood Red, containing a few video’s of one of their concerts. The band broke up, but three of the original members started, together with some new musicians, a new project: Maybe June. I consider myself lucky to also be their soundengineer.
The organization of the backyard classics festival was convinced of their music and booked the try out of Maybe June as closing act. Below you find a video of one of the songs of that concert.
