The organization of the backyard classics festival was convinced of their music and booked the try out of Maybe June as closing act. Below you find a video of one of the songs of that concert.

During the workshop, (starting) musicians will learn how to make a technical rider, what technicians will do during a soundcheck and how to efficiently go through a soundcheck, and what people expect on stage from a musician before a concert can take place.

I will mostly shed a light on the subjects in a technical way. The first time this workshop will be held, Koen Lommerse (Beef, Gotcha Allstars), will join me to explain it from a musician’s point of view.

Top 40 MusicFromNL December 2010

Previously on this website, you could read about the upcoming release of the CD Live by Mensergerjeniet, and at the same time you could place an order for it. Indeed the CD has been released in November, and most people are enthusiast about it.

This also holds true at the well-known platform MusicFromNl. Mensergerjeniet entered their top 40 at the fifth place in december, and MusicFromNL placed a critical review in their online magazine. The jury wanted to hear more alternation, missed the live experience because of neat sound on the CD, and is hoping for a great studio album.

Their suggestions are welcome and will be taken into account. Because there are rumors about a first studio-recorded album! The full review (in Dutch) can be found on this link. Of course, you still can order the CD by using this form.

Day for a Daydream scene

The new theatreshow Day for a Daydream will have its premiere at thursday, december 23rd. The show will run for the next two years at all locations of Center Parcs in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

The show contains 122 songs, 71 constumes and about 1100 lighteffects in almost one and and a half hour. At an amazing speed, the audience steps into the daydreams of several workmen.

As the technician, I will take care of the light, video and sound in this amazing show.

Cover Mensergejeniet - Live

Previously you could already hear some songs by the Dutch ska- and reggaeband Mensergerjeniet on this website. Late November their first cd, called Live will be released. While the earlier songs were recorded in a studio, this CD has been recorded by me at concert at SJU in Utrecht, and afterwards mixed and mastered.

When you order the CD before the first one is pressed, you won’t have to pay for shipping and handling. You can order yours on the orderpage.

Mensergerjen!et

Treasures are sometimes hard to find, hiding at a place you wouldn’t expect. This song is just like that. Transparant is the third and last song from Mensergerjeniet and to be honest I didn’t ever get really enthusiast about it after the recordings.

But I had to change my opinion. A lot. When I started processing the recordings earlier this month (about 30 audiotracks and 20 effecttracks), they proved to generate a very open and clearly song.

The clearly rimclicks by Paul in combination with the sound of a woodblock, Bart’s lovely muted trumpet solo, the step back taken by the complete band when Dirk plays his solo on guitar, Paul who’s creating his own moment during a break at the end of the song: transparant truly is a treasure!

Icon Studio SAE Rotterdam

The Audio Engineer course at SAE is almost finished. Time to hand in the final project. My first attempt was too ambitious, but fortunately I could learn from my mistakes and was allowed to work at a project that earlier visitors probably recognize.

In the icon studio at SAE rotterdam the song 4 kleine woordjes by Mensergerjeniet was mixed one more time (this time by using Protools in stead of Logic) and mastered using iZotope Ozone.

Mensergerjeniet in concert

Stop the press! Grab a rubber, tipex, or just old-skool strike it out, but we definitely need to correct history. It was not 4 kleine woordjes that Mensergerjeniet and I wanted to record in the first place in March 2009, but de maat is vol. 4 kleine woordjes was one of the two songs that were recorded in no-time. Nice.

So, de maat is vol it is. For everyone that wondered since July 11th (the date of the previous post) where the other two songs were: here it is. Mensergerjeniet song number two. This time with keys.
